to do the work
We all have our part to do in dismantling racist systems and societies. Embracism is designed to be a place to start learning. You will be challenged but never shamed. Welcome to the movement.

Who we are
Humbly doing our part
Raina Imig and Kiera Coughlan come to anti-racist work from different perspectives but with a shared passion for working towards radical change. We tread carefully in this space and acknowledge our imperfections and our own racialized perspectives. We acknowledge the ways that structural racism is designed to be hidden from those that benefit from it. We work towards loving accountability for all willing to go on this un-learning journey.

An introduction to anti-racist transformation
Although we share knowledge, the focus of this series is not facts and figures, rather it is transformational personal work.
We believe each one of us is needed now. We know that we will each benefit by expanding our perspective.
“To refuse to participate in the shaping of our future is to give it up. Do not be misled into passivity either by false security (they don’t mean me) or by despair (there’s nothing we can do). Each of us must find our work and do it.”
-Audre Lorde
What former students say…
“Thank you for teaching the Embracism course. You challenged and surprised me, gave me different ideas to consider and other frames of reference to explore.I appreciate the links to the range of media that you shared, and the opportunity to meet even for a short time the other people in the class. I am so grateful that you have ventured forth to guide us as we explore the systems that keep our country from healing, and also ways to move forward. “
-Sarah F.
“This short course packs in a lot, that doesn’t feel overwhelming. It’s done in a way that shame and guilt don’t get in the way of digesting the valuable information. It is full of warmth and humour and care. I would recommend it to anyone willing to listen and look within.”
-Anonymous
“This is a great course exploring new ways to consider racism and privilege and its impact on our collective conscious. Raina and Kiera approach this content in an authentic and thoughtful manner, deep in their belief that unpacking this complex issue with intention and mindfulness is a shared responsibility with immeasurable benefit for all.”
